Concept Description
SUSPENDED GRAVITY contains a paradox: a falling body held in suspension.
At its centre, a red form recalls Newton’s apple, yet its fall is arrested within a restraining arch. The same form also reads as a celestial body, as if its mass were curving the surrounding space; the stepped gradient gives visual measure to depth, deformation and curvature.
Freed from the wall, the work behaves as a self-supporting painting composed of two interdependent elements: the hemisphere with a central depression and the arch that holds it within its span. Between them, the interval becomes a constitutive void rather than an absence.
Gravity is not depicted. It takes form as Space (in)Tension, within a spatial condition in which downward pull, suspension and the curvature of spacetime are held in perceptual tension.
